Privacy policy
Life Compass helps you see where your time went and decide what next week should look like. To do that it reads your calendar. This page says, plainly, what we access, what we keep, who else sees it, and how you take it back.
What we access from Google
When you connect your Google account, Life Compass asks for three permissions and no more:
— To make one calendar, named "Life Compass", in your Google account and to read and change the events on it. This is where the activities you plan in the app live. The permission does not let us write to any other calendar.
— To see the list of your calendars, so you can choose, for each one, whether its events count toward your week or are shown only as busy time.
— To read the events on your calendars: the title, start and end, whether it is an all-day event, and whether you declined it. We do not read, and never store, event descriptions, attendees, attachments, locations or meeting links.
Signing in is separate from calendar access: to sign you in, we ask Google only for your name and email address, and we keep only the email. You can disconnect your calendar and keep your account.
What we keep
We keep what you give the app directly — your intentions, your life chapter, your preferences, the notes you write at the end of a week — and, for each calendar event, its id, title, times and the information you attach to it in the app (which intention it belongs to, whether you skipped it, how long it actually lasted). We keep the token that lets us read your calendar, encrypted, on our servers; it is never sent to your browser and never written to logs.
Who else sees it
Some features use an AI model to suggest intentions, turn a sentence into activities, plan a week or write a reflection. For those we send the provider your intentions, your life chapter, and the titles and times of your activities — never event descriptions or attendees, and never the notes you write about how a week felt. The provider is OpenAI; it does not use this data to train its models.
The app and its database run on a server we operate ourselves, reached through Cloudflare, which carries the traffic to it; encrypted backups are kept in Cloudflare storage. We do not sell your data and we do not share it with anyone else.
Life Compass's use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
How long, and how to take it back
We keep your data while your account exists. Disconnecting your Google account stops all reading of your calendar and deletes the token. Deleting your account deletes everything Life Compass holds about you, right away. The "Life Compass" calendar in your Google account is yours: we leave it there, and you can delete it in Google Calendar whenever you like. You can also withdraw the permission from your Google account settings at any time.
Security
Data travels over HTTPS. Tokens are encrypted at rest. Access to production systems is limited to the people who run the service. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach affecting your data, we will tell you.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will show a notice in the app before the change takes effect. The date at the top is the date of the current version.
